Manny’s real name is Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, was born on December 17, 1978, in Kibawe, a region famous for poverty and violence in the province of Mindanao, Philippines. As the 4th child in a family of 6 siblings, his parents divorced when he was in grade 6, Manny was very independent and smart since childhood.

After discovering his pet dog was killed by his father and because he had to drop out of school at the age of 14 due to poverty, he decided to leave home and board the train to Manila hoping to start a professional boxing career.

Manny entered the national amateur boxing team of the Philippines and played 64 matches before starting her professional boxing career. When he was 16 years old on January 22, 1995, for the first time entering the professional arena, Manny won all four rounds against rival Edmund Ignacio
